Girl Crush Soiree 1.11.20 | Recap!

WE STARTED THE YEAR OFF THE RIGHT WAY

…with a soiree!

It’s hard to believe that just two weeks ago, we were at the Girl Crush Soiree!! The event was everything I hoped it would be and more and the room was filled with women who were excited and so happy to be there. You could feel the energy from the second you walked in.

The beautiful thing I hoped to accomplish with Girl Crush is to bring women together who have all been through similar situations yet each one brings a unique perspective to the room. We were able to open up and connect with one other, not exactly knowing what to expect, but going with the flow anyway!

When I started Girl Crush, I had three things in mind: learn, share, create. I want those three things to be what I experience on any given day and I wanted others to experience that when they were at the soiree. When you walked into the venue, there were dream cards and gratitude cards sitting on a table with a box. The dream and gratitude cards were meant to be part of the learn, share, create experience. The idea is that you take one of each card and write down your dream and gratitude accordingly. Once you are done writing, guests put the gratitude card into the box and took their dream card home with them. When they were leaving the event, they got to pick a gratitude out of the box and take that home with them. The idea behind this was for everyone to write a dream for themselves and get a new perspective on gratitude from others.

We were fortunate to be able to do a small panel with two-out of three of our Girl Crushes from 2019 and they of course killed it. Daisy kicked us off with a short meditation to clear everyone’s energy and get us all really present. It was SO cool to have a packed bar in the East Village of Manhattan go completely silent on a Saturday afternoon and the meditation really helped ground us into the present moment.

Following the meditation, I sat down with Daisy and Izzy and ask them some follow up questions since we had our interview. We talked a lot about balance and how to pursue side hustles while also working full time jobs and trying to make time for everything else! The conversations I’ve had with these ladies are some that I will never forget. Thank you, Daisy, Izzy & Jess (who wasn’t able to make the soiree because she just started nursing school!) from the bottom of my heart for being open to taking this journey with me this year.

As I said earlier, this event meant everything to me! The funny thing is, I am not one for speaking in public (like that’s a hard no from me). And yet this time around I can honestly say I wasn’t nervous at all. I knew I was going to have to speak at some point and do a panel, and 100% contrary to how I thought I was going to feel in the days leading up to the event, I just wasn’t nervous! I wasn’t nervous for how many people were going to show up or if the tech was going to fail - which it definitely had a few glitches here and there. I wasn’t nervous speaking in front of a crowd of super cool women, I wasn’t nervous of what everyone was going to think of the event. I tried my best to surrender and just accept that however it went, that it was still going to be perfect.

The truth is, I did a lot of prep for this day in the days and months leading up. I worked hard to make sure that it went as perfect as I possibly could. But I also just kind of let it be. I let God help me out because I sure as hell knew I couldn’t do it on my own. When I got up to do the panel with a microphone in my hand, it sort of felt like the best feeling in the world.

I started Girl Crush one year ago. One tiny little year, 12 months, 52 weeks, not THAT long ago. One year later I have done three interviews and held an event in New York freaking city. It may not seem like much but even I can recognize that I have come so far from where I started and this is just the beginning.

If you have a dream, I encourage you -right here and right now- to stop reading this and write down your dream on apiece of paper. No dream is too small! Writing down your dreams and goals down on paper regularly makes them 42% more likely to happen.

Today is the day to figure out what has been living inside of you that really needs be let out and shared with the world. In case you need some help figuring that out, I created this What’s Next? worksheet to help you figure out, well… what’s next!

If you weren’t able to make it to this Girl Crush event, stay tuned because there will be more to come!! It was the coolest day and all the women who showed up are true gems in my life. Thank you again to all the people who helped make this dream come true. And as always thank you for being you and for being here.
